本当に素晴らしい脚本で、
正直日本のドラマじゃこんな作品はできないだろうな…
っていうくらい精巧に作られたドラマでした！
（過去形ですが、まだシーズン２，３と続いていきます。早く見たい！）
どのエピソードもじんわりきますが、
１６話はお昼寝する息子の横で一人号泣！！！
amazon primeでシーズン1が見放題なので、
是非見てほしい！
そんなTHIS IS USを見ていて、
英会話に使えそうだなと私が思った表現を紹介します。
まずは第1話から。

意味：最高の
（「bestの中のbestってこと」は、超最高っていう意味）
おじいちゃん産科医が陣痛に耐えるレベッカに言うセリフ
I am the best of the best.
And I swear to you, on the lives of my children and my grandchildren, that I am up to the task.
「私は一流中の一流だ。子どもど孫の命に懸けて誓おう、完璧に役目を果たす」
cliche
意味：【名】お決まりの展開
【形】お決まりの、陳腐な
ドラマのセリフを載せるとネタバレになるので、別の例文を…
例１
A：I heard Emily dumped her boyfriend again.
「エミリーがまた彼氏を振ったらしいよ」
B：Oh, it's such a cliche.
「あぁ、エミリーならしそうなことだよね～」
例２
I know it's such a cliche, but it was love at first sight.
「ありきたりなんですけど、一目ぼれだったの」
have O 過去分詞
意味：「Oを～してもらう」

ダイエットのサポートグループでのセリフ
If this doesn't work, I might just have my stomach stapled.
「もしこれで失敗したら、胃をホチキスで留めるしか…」
*stapled = staple【動】ホチキスでとめる の過去分詞
*have my stomach stapled 「胃をホチキスでとめてもらう」→胃のバイパス手術をする
Boy,
意味：わぁ、いやー、まぁ
Toby：Boy, these people hate me.
「いやー、ここの皆に嫌われたよ」
このboyの表現、妊婦さんが赤ちゃんが男の子だと分かった時にも使います！
"Boy, oh Boy! It's a boy!"
「わぁ！男の子よー！」

cross the line
意味：やりすぎる、度を越える
こちら⇩で紹介しました！覚えてますか？
lineは、ここまでなら許される」というライン、善悪のライン
という心理的な「境界線」という意味があります。
そのlineを超えちゃう＝「やりすぎた」「言い過ぎた」「失礼な」という意味です。
Kate：You kind of crossed the line.
「あれはまずいわよ」
Toby：Yeah, you laughed.
「でも君も笑ってたじゃないか」
Kate：That's because I live across the line.
「だって同感だからよ」
最後のKateのセリフ"I live across the line."はおしゃれな返しでした。
cross the lineが「度を越える」なので、
live across the lineで「その度を越えた側に住んでる」
つまり、「私もいつも言い過ぎるから気持ちは分かるわ」
⇒「同感」と訳されていました。
fall for O
意味：Oを好きになる
Kate: I can't fall for a fat person right now.
「太った彼は作れないの」
have a thing for O
意味：Oが好きでたまらない、Oに目がない
Toby：Yeah. I have a thing for Sally Field.
「サリー・フィールドがタイプだ」
ちなみにSally Fieldはこの人↑
Can I interest you in O ?
意味：～はいかがですか？
Waiter:：Can I interest you in dessert?
「デザートはいかがですか？」
fool around
意味：ふざける、ぶらぶらする、いちゃつく
Toby：Do you wanna fool around?
「いちゃつく？」
put down O / put O down
意味：Oを寝かしつける
Randall：Sorry. Just had to put the girls down.
「ごめん、娘たちを寝かしつけてた」
そして最後におじいちゃん産科医が言ったpep talk（良いセリフ）

に出てきました。
